Next week, there is going to be two banned book events in Albany and Troy, respectively. The Albany event takes place Friday September 28th at 6pm, and the next day the Troy event takes place at Market Block Books at 10am. There will be readings of excerpts from banned or challenged books by local actors, writers, poets and community leaders at the event.

Banned Books Week (Sept. 30 â€“ Oct. 6, 2012) highlights the benefits of free and open access to information while drawing attention to the harms of censorship. Building on the success of their joint 2011 program, the University Club of Albany Foundation and the New York Civil Liberties Union, Capital Region Chapter will present ReadOut! on Friday, September 28 at 6:00 p.m. at the National Register-listed University Club of Albany, 141 Washington Avenue at Dove Street.
