CBX preview: Udachi

One of the last additions to the line-up at Camp Bisco is Udachi of Party Like Us Records and Trouble & Bass. He won the 3rd annual remix contest, co-sponsored by URB & MixMatchMusic, for his remix of Yeasayer’s track “O.N.E.” As part of his prize, he will be playing the festival Friday at 1pm at the Grooveshark Tent.

It was reported that the remix contest this year had over 150 submissions from all over the globe and Udachi definitely is a worthy winning candidate. He has put out over 12 releases in the past year, including two charting releases via Party Like Us Records. Udachi also trekked up to Albany this past November to play and you can check out Andrew’s photo recap from the night!

Udachi, (admittedly nerdy on my part), is under our KAB itinerary for the weekend as highlighted (and starred) under the categories of #dancey, #afternoondelight and #bass. Scope out this interview below the jump, it’s awesome. Thanks Udachi!

CBX preview: party with Alex English

As co-creator and resident DJ of weekly party Girls & Boys at Webster Hall, Alex English has brought an impressive amount of talented DJs and producers together for the good party people in NYC. Girls & Boys has played host to Xavier de Rosnay of Justice, A-Trak, Skrillex, Boys Noize, Steve Aoki, The Bloody Beetroots, MSTRKRFT, DeadMau5 and countless others. He personally has over 20 years of experience DJing and is also half of the production duo, Disko Dali. He plays several weekly events in NYC, in addition to curating, promoting and DJing the Girls & Boys party and has played in numorous cities and countries, most recently in Japan. Alex English is slotted to play at Camp Bisco Friday at 9:45pm at the Grooveshark Tent.

He took some time to do a Q+A with us, scope it out beneath the cut!

CBX preview: take us to 12th Planet

12th Planet is in my personal top 5 must-see artists performing at this year’s Camp Bisco. He is a dubstep producer and DJ, based out of L.A., who has made nothing but big moves this year, playing a handful of fests, including Coachella, Electric Daisy Carnival and SXSW, as well as headlining gigs full-force in Europe, Australia and New Zealand. He is currently working on producing a full-length, as well as working a handful of collabs in to the mix, including teaming up with Skrillex, Flinch and even Korn for some forthcoming releases. He’s worked with Datsik, Doctor P, Skream and Plastician in the past and is often dubbed America’s Dubstep King. Holla!

As I learned from this Q+A, he’s a man of few words who lets his wide-ranging tastes under the heavy bass umbrella speak for itself. He’s slotted Friday at 7:40 at the Grooveshark Tent. Bonus level no-brainer: download his Mishka mix and be sure to check out this quickie profile below the cut.

CBX preview: a glimpse into Papadosio

flagz First off, Happy 4th of July! While you wait for ‘Merica Day activities to commence, I’d like to remind you that this Monday brings us into the final leg of any countdowns relative to Camp Bisco, the 3-day music and arts festival located a quick drive outside of Albany. This year, Andrew and I are attending to cover the festival KAB style. You can expect some on-site coverage, lots of crowd shots safari style, photos of musicians and artists alike, live tweeting from the both of us (@keepalbboring, @kcorcutt), a recap following the fest and who knows, maybe some festival inspired haikus will get tossed in to the mix. I sat down with five different national acts to start the conversation and will be posting up the interviews each day this week. Camp Bisco kicks off on Thursday, and it’s not too late to buy tickets if you want to go.

Papadosio, a band that has played Albany several times in recent years, is first up in my batch of interviews. They are a 5-piece from Ohio, and their music is created with a combination of traditional instruments and modern electronic technology, and can be classified as dancey, progressive rock and jazz with occasional dub breaks and overall weirdness. They will be playing at Camp Bisco Friday at 1pm at Main Stage B. They played at Electronic Forest this past weekend and you can check out their set list via their Twitter, as well as check out their music available on bandcamp.

OP1 x OTS: Interview with Doctor Jeep vol. 2

Doctor Jeep is the first out-of-towner to grace OUTPOST1 twice and for absolute good reason – July’s OP1 was top notch. Back in July, we featured a full blown Q+A and mix. Cue the mix nostalgia here and to re-familiarize everyone, I asked him a couple q’s to catch up with him. In a nutshell, since July, he’s been super busy working on his own productions, playing out with dudes like SBTRKT and being a full-time student at Northeastern. Jeep baby, how do you do it!

His latest tracks, “Monica” and “Whoomp!”, have been rinsed in during KAB radio on WCDB the past couple of weeks and depending on travel time Friday, he’ll be back on the airwaves prior to OP1.
