Neighborhood Clean-Up. This Friday, March 18th.

LeeFrances shot me an email detailing plans to get a group together to clean up the shrapnel from the post Kegs and Eggs 2011 Pine Hills area. So far there’s a good group that have confirmed attending.

Gloves and bags will be provided. If you can’t make it on time, give her a shout at 518.227.1834 and she’ll let you know where they are so you can join.

Head over to the facebook event to RSVP and for more details. I wish it was only those who caused this mess cleaning this, and the rest of the city up, but clearly being responsible for your actions is way beyond the scope of that crowd. I’m very thankful that LeeFrances organized this and there’s enough support from reasonable beings in the area to make this happen. A bit of my faith in humanity has been restored.

Recap: Evolution at Jillian’s

On Friday, March 4, hundreds of people wandered out of winter hibernation with curiosity, a hunger for something different and a desire to dance.  Jillian’s, in recent months, has been changing its scene, being jolted back to life as a prevailing music venue in the Capital Region.

The full album is on Andrew’s flickr — go find the pictures of you and your friends! Thanks to Justin for reaching out and throwing a huge event!

For this evening’s event, Vúdoo Productions transformed the dance club into a mini electronic festival, with a commitment including displayed art, a deco installation, a down tempo artist’s lounge, on-the-spot massages from Dustin Campbell and Jessah Price of The Bear’s Massage, body painting, video projections by Drew Suto, Psydream and Psydrack, various fire performances, a Tree Shurt merch table and an eclectic mix of electronic musicians.  Evolution grew out of a series of parties held at Red Square, called Cosmic Wave, and is bringing something that is huge in other places but new to Albany.

Recap: Red Lions, Summer People, Aficionado @ HRCH

For many friends, strangers and familiar faces alike, it was their first time walking down the steps leading into the welcoming brick walls of the Hudson River Coffee House.  The draw for some on March 3rd could have been to attempt to prove Andrew wrong but I’d say majority was to give local fave Aficionado a proper send off on their 2-month spring tour.  The Red Lions, also from Albany, started off the evening with Summer People sandwiched in between.

The Hudson River Coffee House, located at 227 Quail, has begun putting on shows, with owner and operator Anton Pasquill as curator, managing the sound and catering to the musicians, providing water and adjusting house gear.

As this was my first time in attendance for a show here, my first impression was that the building adapted to host a show as best as it could.  It was tightly packed and more standing room would have been preferable.  As a venue, it’s a substantial upgrade from an apartment basement (the last place I saw both Aficionado and Summer People) but it interestingly enough doesn’t necessarily lose that vibe either, with vintage adornments and displayed art adding to the atmosphere of the underground coffee house.

It’s First Friday!

…in case you forgot! I’m heading over to The Marketplace Gallery around 9 to see Gregory Maxwell Dunn II, ENZ, VENG, Chris RWK. More details on the event’s facebook.

Afterward I’m heading to Jillians for Evolution where I’ll be taking photos! Come say what’s up.

KAB Event Recap: Deep Children & Party With Tina at Fuze Box

Wow. Last Friday, the 18th, we got out hands on the wonderful venue right in the middle of Albany, the Fuze Box. We had a ton of success with our New Year’s Eve party and we were urged by everyone in attendance to do it again, so…we did. Same line up as New Years too. Mycon and Looney smashed it up super hard. Looney dropped a beat he’s been working on and it absolutely ravaged the place. Mycon kept things funky and people moving. As for us, we definitely got the place warmed up proper, and If you enjoyed what Duncan and I were playing, you can download our track list and get hip with some songs.

Dig through the full photos which is posted on my flickr (higher quality) or if you wanna tag you and your friends they’re alsoposted on my facebook (lower quality). Otherwise, I’ll let the photos below do the talking.

See you all next month (March 18th) for our next party at Fuze Box!
