AIGA Upstate NY has announced a week long celebration of design, taking place April 30 to May 6 across much of Upstate NY. The week culminates with a three day design conference in Ithaca called Create Upstate.

One fun event on the calendar that caught my eye was the 16x16x16 event at Brown’s Brewing in Troy.

Please join AIGA Upstate NY for a fun 2017 Design Week evening in Troy, NY with a new event we’re calling 16x16x16: 16 speakers showing 16 slides for 16 seconds each. Also, there will be 16 oz. beverages available. This will be a fast-paced, fun event with each speaker spending about 4.5 minutes talking about 16 slides on their choice of topic. Lite fare will be served; the Taproom’s full menu will also be available.

Create Upstate, a three-day Upstate New York design conference is back for 2017. This year it will be held in Ithaca May 4-6 and features speakers Gemma O\’Brien, Cap Watkins, Catt Small, and Tad Carpenter.

Create Upstate is a 3-day celebration of design and creativity in Upstate NY. Once again, we’ve jam-packed our schedule with can’t-miss sessions and meaningful experiences. Best of all, It’s happening in (drumroll…) Ithaca, NY!

The Upstate NY Chapter of AIGA is hosting their annual Design Crawl tomorrow in Troy. The idea is that of a bar crawl, but visiting where local designers work as well as bars.

Come out and see where local creatives work, then join us as we tip a few and \’crawl\’ to another studio, then another pub, etc… Should be a fun night—get a tour of local agencies, meet other creatives in your area and get those steps in! All are welcome (you must be 21+ to drink at pubs). Giddy-up!

Tickets are $10 if you’re not an AIGA member and are on sale now. If you’re a current AIGA member, this event is free. If you\’re in a creative line of work this is the perfect opportunity to meet other area creative folk and check out their work spaces, and have a few pints in the process.

I think those behind Drafts + Draughts have figured out the perfect pregame for a creative lecture. Drafts + Draughts is a laid-back hand-lettering pregame at the Madison Pour House. All you need to do is bring your favorite writing utensil and they provide the canvas.

After the pregame, everyone will head over to the Ellen Lupton lecture at St. Rose\’s Thelma P. Lally School of Education.
