The Arts Center is starting a new media series, titled Revisionaries, starting this Saturday the 14th. For the series, the Arts Center is hosting two NYC-based film/video archivists, 99 Hooker and Bro. Russell Scholl, as curators for the series.

The first program in their fall series is called >America Loves You, which will highlight weird, dark, and joyous Americana through wartime propaganda, child preachers, snake handling, circus sideshows, perverse vaudeville, and more. There will be a discussion with the curators following the program.

Revisionaries aims to reanimate the dying thrill cinema once promised, that is, to travel the world, meet new people, and steal their souls. In a time of too much media, the need to curate without over-simplifying is critical. Just as we all could use a good butcher, Brother Russell Scholl and 99 Hooker offer a series of fine cuts from the beast we call “cinematic consciousness.

The series also includes “Exploitation Nation,” on October 25, “ReMix-a-Lot” on November 9 and “America Loves You #2” on December 14.
