Raven’s Head Brewing officially gives up on St. Joes

Pam Allen for the Business Review:

Ravens Head Brewing has offered to buy the Cohoes Armory for its brewing operations.

Brennon Cleary, co-owner of Ravens Head, tells me the new craft brewery is talking with the city of Cohoes about logistics, including parking, before finalizing the deal.

Weird that blame continues to be on “some residents”. However an additional $750,000 to simply buy a parking lot for an already expensive building somehow has nothing to do with the concerns starting a brand new business.

The Cohoes Armory on the other hand includes parking, is already zoned to be used as a restaurant and will cost almost 70% less than just the parking lot. The cost of the St. Joes and the parking lot would be 1100% the cost of the Cohoes Armory.

Yup, fault of the residents. Definitely not a better fit.

Thanks for making sense. The St. Joe’s site didn’t fly with Albany’s zoning board, and a solid majority of the city council voted that a brewery was “inappropriate” for the neighborhood. Ravens Head had the wrong plan in the wrong place. The numbers and logistics didn’t work. Not the residents’ fault. Better luck to them in Cohoes.

Sorry Ravens Head didn’t get accepted in Albany. Citizens for St. Patrick’s in Watervliet would LOVE to have them come and use St. Patrick’s church. Huge basement with kitchen facilities, plenty of parking. Green space. Extra buildings to sell or use. On the main street. Easy access from 787, Latham etc.Zoned for mixed use.Nigro & Golub both said they would step down if we found an alternative. We didn’t want to contact them before because we thought they were going to get St. Joseph’s . How do we contact them?
