Schenectady’s Merchant Mash-up: Spend some time in that ‘other’ city

void(0)-2

Thursday night, businesses in downtown Schenectady will be teaming up for the fourth semiannual Merchant Mash-up, featuring food, shopping, prizes and live music.

From 5-8pm, restaurants will host food tastings inside downtown shops while shops will offer nightly specials and/or in-store entertainment. In some cases, businesses will create “reverse mash ups where the shop sets up merchandise or services within the restaurant itself. There will also be outdoor and indoor live music, taste-testing and tickets to Proctors to the first 50 visitors who spend $25 or more at any downtown business.

The event, organized by the Downtown Schenectady Improvement Corporation, will feature 12 business pairings including the Bier Abbey, Café NOLA, Lennon’s Irish Shop, the Open Door Bookstore, Apostrophe Cafe, the Moon & River Cafe and more. Check out their website for full event details.

The idea of businesses teaming up in the same space creates an interesting partnership that will likely introduce you to something you might not have been interested in before. Get out of the house, walk around and support local!
