Morrissey to play the Palace Theater October 18th

Pitchfork’s got the scoop on Morrissey’s new tour, and there’s a surprising show in the list: “10/18 Albany, NY – Palace Theatre”. Tickets go on sale Friday.

This makes sense if this is a move from their newly hired executive director, who stated in a TU article:

“The community already loves the facility, and it’s just doing rentals,” said Carlon. “Can you imagine if were doing a lot more shows, bringing in more powerful acts? It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”

If this keeps this up through the next few seasons, the Palace is going to be an absolute powerhouse when it comes to talent coming into Albany.

first time i saw this site. love the title and absolutely agree.. When it comes to music the city cant get it right. Alive @ five absolutely stinks. Maybe they could book a group that had a top 100 song this century? TU constanly misses out on top acts. So they got Springsteen big deal that place should have one big show month. No fish or Dave Matthews in YEARS…No dance clubs.. Its a real SNOOZE

My favorite article about Morrissey (save for all of his ridiculous quotes), is the article where this guy tried to be a roadie on the Morrissey tour but didn’t last two days.

Unfortunately, the original publisher (UK publication) moved the piece, but Stereogum has some great pull quotes:

  • Wilde would be on my side

I would go see this as i saw the Smiths in Detroit in’86, but I fear he may play the Palace with his shirt similarly unbuttoned. Eeeesh….
