MoHu Takes Flight: Photos and Recap

Last night marked the kickoff of MoHu Fest at the Albany International Airport. In the spirit of any cultural festival, there was painting by Tony Iadicicco in front of all the passers by and a generous spread of food and drinks. There also was an enormous sculpture representing the bridging of all four major MoHu regions, as well as a musical petting zoo where you could try all sorts of instruments out that you’ve never had the chance to before. Big shouts to 3 Chicks and a P for being the only vegan food there and letting me continuously sample their hummus.

See what MoHu has going on at their events page and go enjoy some art events in the upcoming 10 days.

“Tony Iadicicco was live painting a painting in front of everyone in real life, while time passed by, and people watched.” I’ve fixed that now, I wrote this on my phone in the waiting room of a car service place so forgive the obvious errors.

Albany-based sculptor Peter Leue designed, created and installed the massive Erector Set installation at the center of the event. Titled “Crossroads of Imagination,” the sculpture was composed of over 1000 individual pieces that were assembled by Peter and 7 volunteers in about 5 hours. The installation was a one-time construction, as every sculpture built using these hand-created parts will be uniquely designed for the space they occupy.
