Updated: DiVinyl Revolution To Close May 2nd

Sad news, but record store DiVinyl Revolution in Saratoga is closing May 2nd. Dollar records are now four for a dollar, and all used records, tapes and cds are half price. Sad to see you go.

Thanks to IBI for the tip.

Update, from a commenter:

They are actually moving across the street into the Downstreet Mall, and planning on reopening in early June.

Sweet, seems like all hope is not lost.

KC’s Music Monday: Last Day of April Edition

Not sure if the last day of April has any significance to it (or if there’s some kind of made-up Internet holiday for it) but either way, it’s a Music Monday occasion. Enjoy.

First up is a new mix from OUTPOST1 and on the sly resident knomad for Sampled Radio split alongside Brian A. It’s available as a free download so you can bump it at your leisure to get pumped on May’s monthlies where you can catch knomad doing his thing live. Alongside WCDB, we’re co-hosting Jillionaire and Dre Skull alongside our residents and now that it’s almost May, the countdown has begun. Full track-listing for both Brian A and knomad available here.

Check out what else I’m listening to today beneath the cut. Also – I have a handful of local music to rinse through the next couple weeks and if you’d like your music to be added to my ever-growing queue feel free to e-mail me.

SAWFest Music Festival: Featuring My Pet Dragon and Railbird

On August 18th, My Pet Dragon, RAILBIRD, The Red Lions and The Black Ships will convene on Salem Art Work‘s 119 acre grounds for SAWFest. There will be vendors, food, drinks, and free camping! This would be a neat little weekend long vacation with great music and camping if you’re into that kind of thing. Not to mention it’s a big sculpture park with lots to see other than the bands.

If you don’t already know about Salem Art Works, it’s a non-profit arts center and sculture park in Salem, NY. It’s now your job to become more familiar by actually going there.

To read more about SAW fest, head over the the Salem Art Works event page. Photo lifted from the SAW facebook.

The Pink Party: Photos and Recap

So last night was The Pink Party over at Matt Baumgartner‘s house. It’s a fundraiser for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society and involves an open bar and a lot of alcohol and dancing (a true win/win/win). I was invited to take some photos and I was instantly kicking myself for having missed any of the previous parties and showing up as late as I did. Tickets were cheaper than a normal night out at $25 and and it was super fun and different than your normal tour of Lark/Pearl/Broadway.

Matt’s place is nuts. Huge loft, open floor plan, a urinal, and an awesome patio/garden in the connecting lot, wide plank floors, etc., etc. Pretty much everyone (mostly me) has a huge apartment boner for that spot. Don’t be a square and miss the next one. And sorry to most people I met last night because I don’t really remember meeting anyone. Oops.

Hit the jump, click the image up top, or click the article title to see the full image gallery, and do it quick because I’ll probably get a million emails asking me to take down photos. Matt will have the full collection of everyones photos over on fridaypuppy.com
